1951
Ponsonby obtain a permanent base for the first time when they
acquired club rooms and grounds at Clarence Street, formerly the
site of the old potteries.
1952
Ponsonby won the rare treble of Fox Memorial, Roope Rooster and
Champion of Champions for the first time in the club's history.
Ponsonby's champion full back, Des White, kicked a world record 11
goals against Australia at Brisbane in 1952 when New Zealand won 49
- 25 and 18 in the series. In 21 tests, White scored 132
points, a Kiwi record until overtaken by Matthew Ridge. His
467 points in 61 mat5ches in the black jersey may never be overtaken
now that long tours are a thing of the past. His record 202
points on the tour of Britain and France in 1951/52 will surely last
forever. His total of 794 points (391 goals and four
tries) is the all-time club record.
1953
Ponies won the Roope Rooster for the eighth time.
1954
The club won its eighth Auckland championship title. There was
no final this season.
Ponsonby became the first club side from anywhere in the world to
play in Australia. Matches were played against Newtown,
Balmain and Maitland (Newcastle).
1958
In the club's Golden Jubilee season, they won the Auckland
championship defeating Otahuhu 16 - 7 in the final. In an end
of season game, they went down 18 - 5 to Manly.
A Fiftieth Anniversary function was held at the Farmers' building in
Hobson Street on 16 August.
1959
Ponsonby refused to join in the district scheme and were forced to
play in the senior second division with a team which featured seven
Kiwis.
1960
Ponsonby entered the district scheme and played as Central Districts
in combination with Richmond.
